Airfield Services
Ness Engineering began life in 1986 as a company dedicated to airfield engineering and we think that our continuous experience over a quarter-century is unrivalled in the north of Scotland. We’ve worked on larger airfields - Stornoway (SYY), Kirkwall (KOI) and Sumburgh (LSI) – and on tiny island airstrips such as Papa Stour (PSV).

One of our main specialisms is
airfield lighting and related control gear, which we install, maintain and
upgrade. We also deal with all necessary
civil works, including ducting in concrete, bitmac or grassland. We install and service apron floodlighting,
too. In all of this work, we adhere to
the Civil Aviation Authority’s CAP
168 standards..
We also undertake all the electrical installation work needed for navigational and instrument systems and of course we can also do any necessary building work in connection with, say, a radar upgrade.
On runways, taxiways and aprons, we can offer a road lining service to ensure that all markings are fully compliant with the relevant codes. We install and clean drainage systems. We’ll also be happy to offer you our grassland management service.
For all these jobs, we have the necessary specialist equipment.
We’re always happy to discuss your airfield’s requirements, so please get in touch to find out how we may be able to help.
