Sumburgh Airport - Airfield Ground Lighting Replacement - Sep 2008
We started work on the AGL replacement on Runway 15/33 in September and hope to complete by March 2009. This is a major upgrade of the lighting systems at Sumburgh, and includes new pit and duct installation, new light fittings and wiring on Runway 15/33 and the Taxiways, as well as a complete new controls system.
We are working alongside Halcrow Group Ltd, MK Leslie Ltd and ATG Airports to complete these works.

Sumburgh Airport - Virkie Hanger - April - Dec 2007
The hanger at Virkie is now up and running with the new "Oscar Charlie", Ness Engineering have served as main contractor on this contract. We have supplied, installed and commisioned a variety of equipment into the building, along with completing the building and decoration works. This job was under tight time constrictions, however, along with the client, engineers, officials and sub-contractors we were able to ensure there were no delays in getting the building operational.
New Service - March 2007
We have just taken delivery of a Medium Volume combination tanker from Whale Tankers in Solihull. This will enable us to offer a new service to our customers as well as assisting us in our existing pump and drain works. With this unit we can clear blocked drains, empty septic tanks, clean out wet-wells, empty bunds, clear ducts, empty oil interceptors as well as cleaning out road gullies.

Sumburgh Airport - Virkie Hangar - Jan 2007
We have just completed the job of removing the existing offices within the Virkie Hangar at the airport. This included the stripping out of all services and the removal of the building fabric which made up the internal rooms. During this contract part of the ceiling material was confirmed as asbestos, we co-ordinated its removal for our client and ensured minimum delay in completing the job. This hangar will be used by CHC Scotia to serve the MCA Search and Rescue Helicopter contract, bringing more change at Sumburgh with the departure of Oscar Charlie - a well known callsign locally.
Sumburgh Airport - Runway 09-27 Extension - Summer 2006
Ness Engineering were pleased to be selected as Airfield Ground Lighting contractors for this successful job. The installation works were complicated by having to work around the normal operations of a busy airport, meaning much of the work was done through the night. All circuit cabling, transformers and luminaires were replaced with new equipment. All AGL works were done by Ness Engineering, including the coring and setting of the seating rings, installation of 35KM of cable and all testing and commisioning.
